Time: Friday, August 4 Tom Clark's talk is "AMATEUR TELESCOPE MAKING". He is the publisher of Amateur Astronomy Magazine, a retired machinist, and an amateur telescope maker who has built over 160 large amateur telescopes. Tom and his wife Jeannie live at a dark sky site near the small town of Chiefland, Florida about half the year - when not out traveling in their motorhome seeing this great country of ours. Dave Knisely is giving a report on his year long project for the comparison of filters/ Pete Smitka owns Mag1 Instruments, bakes smores and is speaking on "how to tune up your scope for better mechanical and optical performance". Nick Schneider's talk is "Jupiter's Magnetosphere: A Volcano-Powered Nebula". He and Erica are both Astronomers from University of Colorado. Erica Ellingson's talk is on galaxy clusters: dark matter, galaxies and
galaxy evolution and cosmology. I'd feature new results from Chandra and HST.
