Eighth Annual Nebraska Star Party
July 15-20, 2001

ALL EVENTS ARE IN CENTRAL DAYLIGHT TIME

REGISTRATION: Please check in at the registration table, which will be in the Dillon’sLounge located behind the cabins at Merritt Resort. There will be signs and volunteers to direct you there. At check-in, you will receive your T-shirts, if ordered, and additional NSP information, such as finalized schedules, contest entry forms, brochures for area attractions, and a nametag with a number on it. This number will be used in awarding door prizes, so be sure to get one when you check in. Be sure to check the bulletin board at the registration area throughout the week for the latest NSP information. NO REGISTRATION THURSDAY. FRIDAY REGISTRATION AT THE HIGH SCHOOL.

MEETING ROOM LOCATION: Friday’s programs will be held in the Valentine High School auditorium, which is located at 431 N. Green St. just south of Hwy 12 in Valentine. (see map on page 5)

OBSERVING AREA: The primary observing area is located at the south end of the lake at and near the Snake Campground. Refer to mapon page 4. There are no electrical hookups at the observing site.

DOOR PRIZES: NSP has traditionally been blessed with many wonderful door prizes donated by many generous vendors. Here’s how it works: On your nametag will be a number. That number will be used in drawing for door prizes. Door prizes must be claimed by the person whose name is drawn or by an immediate family member. Door prizes will be given out during the ICE CREAM SOCIAL, THE BEACH PARTY and AFTER EACH PROGRAM ON FRIDAY. Winner’s names will be posted at the Registration Tent. Winners must claim their prizes before the final program is concluded on Friday. At that time, winners will be drawn for all unclaimed door prizes, remaining door prizes, and the grand prizes. A complete list of door prizes is available at the Registration Table.

CATERED MEALS: Cost of the catered meals will be approximately $9.00. Make reservations during check-in.

ICE CREAM SOCIAL: Monday night from 7:30 to 8:30 at the Snake Campground, COVERED PICNIC TABLE. Free ice cream and drinks!

RESTAURANTS: There is a small restaurant 3 miles north of Merritt Resort and several restaurants in Valentine. The Merritt Resort resaurant should also be open by the time of NSP6.

SHOPPING: The Merritt Trading Post and Boardman’s has limited groceries and daily necessities. There is a full-size grocery store in Valentine, as well as a department store, drug store, a couple of hardware stores, and several specialty shops.
